Next 5000 days of the internet

The machine as Kevin Kelly calls the web, if his predictions are right as how fast it is growing we may all be in danger. He says that the web as of 2007 has the same amount of synapses and neurons as a human brain and the web in a sense works like a brain, the scary part is our brain doesnt double in power like the web does every two years.

well I had stated in a previous class on how movies and comic books should not be marked as science-fiction, but as the future, we have seen some of these movies or comic books become reality. I remember either reading a book or watching a movie when the world was taking over by machines, is this what our future holds for us is the web or are computers becoming powerful enough to program themselves?

If the web is doubling in power every two years at this rate kevin states that in thirty years this machine will grow to be as powerful as 6 billion human brains, so again are we looking at what the future may have instored for us what man created will it become our master.

  1. Greg,

Great points, in my Blog I talked about how we may be headed towards the "Terminator" age, and I hope that it doesn't replace our human feelings. But it seems as if we are headed that way. We have some technical advances that we have never seen before. This is the golden age and may just be the biggest step for our current generation. We do everything on the Internet these days, but with a cost. Just like everything in th is world there is risk and there is reward. Viruses, and indentity theft is on the rise, and people can track virtually everything we do these days. Is this a good thing? In most instance no! But only time will tell!
